Basic concepts of mnemonics

  • Artificial associations.

Mentally connecting several images in such a way that they are outlined by a continuous contour line. The brain is able to remember these images in one picture. In an artificial association, from two to five images can be linked at the same time. The association between items is fixed automatically.

  • Natural association.

If you see a vase of flowers standing on a table, then this combination of connected images (table, vase, flowers) is remembered by the brain without conscious participation, as a natural Association. Such associations are actively used in mnemonics (the Cicero method, the method of free associations, memorizing photos and illustrations).
